Activities
Following are the major activities initiated by the Alliance for Dalit Rights.
Identification of potential partners
Alliance for dalit rights will identify the small and committed organizations working on developmental issues of Dalits and excluded communities. The identified organizations will be invited as a member of the network.
Capacity building of Partners
The capacitating of the member organization is the prime focus in the initial phase of the network. As there is a great need of capacity building of partner organization on organization development, financial management, administrations, technical aspects of the various registrations, linking grass root level organizations with the governmental various socio-economic schemes pertaining to the Dalits.
Resource mobilization
Resource mobilization is also one of the important areas where most of the small Dalit headed organization lagging behind. The alliance will focus on training partner organizations on resource mobilization for the above-mentioned areas of interventions. The balance will be maintain while exploring possibilities of resource mobilization in the regional level representation from entire state and priority will be given to the most needy , potential partners and respective intervention area. Along with the resource mobilization for individual organization the resources will be mobilized for the state level advocacy and capacity building interventions.
Research and documentation
Research and Documentation is the very important area which most of the Dalit headed organizations are lacking. They are working in their area on multiple issues but not able to document correctly which will boost their work qualitatively and quantitatively. Even though there are so many issues which required to study empirically such as present livelihood options and alternative sustainable livelihood, education, implementation of SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities act and gender issues.
Initial action will be taken in the form of action research on any one intervention area along with the partners and as the culmination of the study, the campaign will be undertaken on respective intervention area at the state level in the networking and advocacy mode on the basis of research findings. E.g. Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan and Dalit child right to education, monitoring of atrocities and implementation of Scheduled caste Scheduled tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989. Issues of Dalit Women, Scheduled caste Sub- Plan (SCSP) allocation and implementation specifically to the sustainable livelihood area such as Dadasaheb Gaikwad Swabhiman Yojna (Land to the landless Scheduled caste as a scheme for dignity) and other entrepreneurship and self employment schemes in both urban and rural area along with the implementation of National Employment Guarantee schemes.
This studies and documentation will be carried out with help of activist, associated academicians and practicing professionals.
